Stradbroke Island Tours

Our Conservation Commitment

Protecting Minjerribah for future generations through responsible, eco-certified tourism that respects country, culture, and community.

Quandamooka Country

We acknowledge the Quandamooka People as the Traditional Custodians of Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island) and the surrounding waters. We pay our respects to Elders past, present, and emerging.

This land has been cared for by the Quandamooka People for thousands of years. Our tours operate on their country, and we are committed to sharing this place with visitors in a way that honours their ongoing cultural connection and stewardship.

Our Commitment

Protecting Stradbroke Island's Natural Heritage

At Stradbroke Island Tours, we believe that experiencing the island's natural wonders comes with a responsibility to protect them. Our eco-certified tours are designed with conservation at their core, ensuring that your visit contributes positively to the preservation of this unique ecosystem.

Straddie is home to a unique and fragile ecosystem that includes rare plants and animals. Invasive species, especially seeds carried unintentionally by visitors, can disrupt this delicate balance. Even small seeds stuck to your clothing, gear, or vehicle can introduce non-native plants, which may compete with local species, reduce biodiversity, and harm the natural landscape.

What We Do

Our Eco Practices

Stay on Designated Paths

Keep to marked trails and boardwalks to protect sensitive vegetation and minimise soil erosion.

Take Only Photos

Leave shells, plants, and natural materials where they belong. Removing even small items can disrupt the ecosystem.

Respect Wildlife

Observe animals from a distance and never feed them. Human food can harm wildlife and alter their natural behaviours.

Vehicle Cleaning Protocol

Tour vehicles are cleaned and inspected before and after each trip, with attention to wheel wells and undercarriage.

Eco-Certified Operations

We hold accreditation from Eco Tourism Australia. Our tours are designed to minimise environmental impact.

Reducing Disposables

We provide some reusable gear on tours and are actively working to transition away from single-use items.

The Island

Protecting North Stradbroke Island

A destination of immense ecological and cultural importance. As you explore with us, you'll discover a place teeming with life, where the natural beauty is preserved within its National Parks and protected habitats.

Biodiversity Protection

Stradbroke Island is home to threatened species including the Koala, the migratory Eastern Curlew, and the rare Oxleyan Pygmy Perch. Our tours are designed so your visit supports the preservation of these fragile habitats.

National Park Stewardship

A significant portion of North Stradbroke Island is protected under National Park status. This designation helps maintain the island's natural and cultural heritage. We operate within these boundaries with care and respect.

Visitor Education

We educate every guest about the island's unique ecosystem, the threats it faces from climate change and invasive species, and how small actions during the tour make a real difference.

Biodiversity Protection

Our Seed-Free Protocol

Before every tour, our crew runs a 4-point check to prevent invasive species from reaching Minjerribah. One unchecked pocket can introduce a plant that takes decades to reverse.

Clothing & shoes — Inspect socks, cuffs, pockets, and shoe treads for stowaway seeds or plant material.

Equipment & bags — Check backpacks, velcro straps, and camera gear. Seeds catch on textured surfaces.

Vehicle preparation — Wheel wells, undercarriage, and floor mats cleaned before every departure.

Guest briefing — Every visitor learns why seeds threaten Minjerribah and what to look for.
